What's Happened Since High School |
2010: Here we are 40 years on from high
school graduation. After graduating I did a few
different things, including a year in Europe, before
settling into UVic and then graduating in 1980. Worked
in social services for a few years, eventually managing
the programs I delivered. Had a great stint in
intergovernmental relations and saw lots of Canada as a
result. Then it was one more stint in programs before
finally leaving government in 2004.
My kids were "semi" independent and I decided to move to
the Comox Valley, a place I had visited often and knew I
wanted to live in. I was with the Vancouver Island
Health Authority at the time and through work met
Alison, a health manager living in Port McNeill. Like
many people on the Island, I had never been north of
Campbell River.
After a year and a half of commuting on weekends...I
moved here. Now I work with Community Futures, have a
home that looks over Queen Charlotte Strait and onto the
beautiful coast mountains, and only slightly pine to be
closer to a bigger town again;) It is beautiful here and
it's been great to experience a small town (even smaller
than Duncan growing up).
Unfortunately I won't be attending our 40th...sad really
as I've attended each of the previous three reunions. I
will miss seeing you but take consolation in the fact
that now we are connected through email, facebook and
website! Have fun on the 23rd and 24th. |
