CSSS Then + Now

CSS in 2010

THE CLASS OF 1970 WAS THE 20th graduating class from Cowichan Senior Secondary School, affectionately referred to as 'Cow High'. Today, our alma mater is known as Cowichan Secondary School. George Bonner, Mount Prevost and Quamichan, the Junior Secondary Schools that we attended, are now known as Middle Schools and the designations of Junior and Senior Secondary have been discontinued.

Yet... you can still walk down the very same hallways and step back to that very special time when we experienced the harmony of the individual energies, talents and interests of the Class of 1970.

In the summer of 1970 we were the sons and daughters of Cowichan. Step back and feel what you were feeling then. Read through the messages from... our CSSS principal, Harry Dewar... our student government president, Graham Bruce... and, from our valedictorian, Russell Getz. We were encouraged to actively engage the time given to us... to have the courage to do our best... and, to thereby experience the wonder of success.

Many of us have enjoyed our reunions as an opportunity to gather together again. Many of us now understand the joyful emotions of being moms and dads, and even grandmas and grandpas… incomprehensible in 1970, but a part of our very nature today. Our individual journeys have already taken us through many years of challenges and opportunities since graduation… journeys unique to each person.

And we still have the amazing freedom and mandate before us to continue to decide what to do with the time that is given to us. Let us seize the moment... carpe diem ...and enjoy the knowledge earned from a greater school... the school of life!

Then + Now is and remains... Our Time!
